Stockholm covers the Vasa, Gamla Stan, Djurgården and the archipelago. Gothenburg adds the seafood and the canals. Swedish Lapland (Abisko, Kiruna) adds the aurora and the icehotel — 90 minutes north by air.

The Fika Law
Fika — the coffee-and-pastry break — is Sweden's twice-daily institution: kanelbullar (cinnamon buns) at Rosendals or Vete-Katten, taken sitting down, never rushed. Budget it into every day.
