Three days is Venice done properly — the extra day beyond the classic two buys the back-canallel sestieri (Castello, Dorsoduro, Cannaregio) where the city actually lives. San Marco early, the islands mid-trip, and the quiet Venice filling the gaps.
At roughly €150 a day, the trip runs about €450 excluding flights. The vaporetto pass pays off at this length; the traghetto crossings remain the two-euro gondola.
