A week in Paris is the trip people mean when they say 'when I retire'. The core takes three days; Versailles takes one; the second-tier museums (d'Orsay, Rodin, Orangerie, Picasso) take two; and the last day belongs to the neighborhoods — Canal Saint-Martin, the passages, the marché streets where Paris is lived rather than visited.
