Markets Are the Real Museums
Chatuchak Weekend Market covers 15,000 stalls (weekends only — plan around it); Or Tor Kor next door sells the fruit that makes Bangkok worth flying for. Evenings: the Ratchada night market's neon wheel, Yaowarat's street-food blaze in Chinatown, or Asiatique's riverside calmer version.
The Canal Bangkok
Half of Bangkok's charm lives on the khlongs — the Thonburi canals behind Wat Arun where wooden houses stand on stilts and longtail boats cost a few hundred baht an hour. It's the antidote to the mall-city impression, and it fits any afternoon.
