City introduction

A Caucasus capital of sulfur baths, balconies and wine. Tbilisi takes its name from the warm sulfur springs that still feed the bath houses of Abanotubani, the district at the foot of the old town. Above it the Narikala fortress walls climb the ridge, and the Bridge of Peace of 2010 spans the Mtkvari river to Rike Park. Rustaveli Avenue holds the parliament and the national museum, while the Holy Trinity Cathedral, consecrated in 2004, is one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the world.
